Loop walk from Quarry Farm, North Charlton, taking in Cateran Hole & Blawearie
The route starts from Quarry Farm on North Charlton Moor and takes you over the moors to Cateran Hole, a 35m long cave carved out by water through a fault line in the gritstone, steps down into the cave allow easy access though it can be slippery.
From here continue over the moors to the trig point at Curlyheugh. On the way you will pass a memorial tree with a dedication to a young shepherd who died.
Head down to Harehope Farm and take the track back up, passing “The posh cowshed” on your way to the ruins of Blawearie Farm which was abandoned in the 1940’s.
It’s then a simple walk back along the track to your start point.
