John Muir Way

John Muir was a Scotsman, born in Dunbar in 1838, who at the age of just 11, emigrated to America from Helensburgh on the west coast of Scotland with his family

A passionale environmentalist and conservationist, he was instrumental in saving Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park and the founding of The Sierra Club.

The “John Muir Way” route was created in 2014, a hundred years after his death, to celebrate his legacy to his work.

Choosing a walking holiday with Northern Adventures means that we will always have your best interests at heart. Although in theory hiking holidays in the UK can be walked throughout the year, the weather in the North of England and Scotland can be very temperamental! Some of the routes are at quite a high level and we always advise walkers to take heed of weather forecasts and to be fully prepared for whatever the British climate can throw at you.
